Sunday News Leader, June 18, 2000 Obituaries Goldie R. Crowder Goldie R. (Harlow) Crowder, 78, died Friday (June 16, 2000) at Augusta Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1922, Lexington a daughter of Charles R. and Lena Harlow.

She retired from ASR and had attended Wayne Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death 1 by her parents, her husband, Coy L. Crowder, and one brother, Melvin R. Harlow. Survivors include a daughter, Crystal C.

Cash of Waynesboro; a son, Coy L. Crowder Jr. of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, A. Lee Dean, Gerri L. and David M.

Cash, Cindy Hebb, Amber and Chistopher L. Crowder, Rebecca Patton and three great-grandchildren, Niki and Zachery Hebb and Derek Patton. A service will be conducted: at 2 p.m. Monday at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. David Breeden.

Colvin Sr. CRIMORA Robert Samuel Colvin 67, of 2195 Eastside Highway, died Friday (June 16, 2000) at Augusta Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1933, in Albemarle County a son of James Robert and Elizabeth Blackwell Colvin. He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene. He retired from General 1 Electric in 1988 from the electronics department.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Garr and Nellie Bishop. Survivors include his wife, Helen T. Blackwell Colvin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert S. Jr.

and Betty of Crimora, Douglas K. and Angie of Crimora and Gary E. and Rita Colvin of New Hope; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Kay Cline of Crimora and Kim E. and B.H. Patricia C. Harrington STAUNTON Patricia C. Har- rington, 76, died Friday (June 16, 2000) at Loyalton. She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in New York a daughter of Frederick and Marie (0'Keeffe) Chesterman.

She had worked as a buyer for Macy's Department Stores before moving to Charlotte. She moved to Staunton last year. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Charlotte. While raising her children, she always found time to volunteer for civic organizations including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Children's Theater of Charlotte and the American Red Cross.

Her husband, Paul Gilbert Harrington, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia A. Harrington of New York and Marguerite H. and Brett Shrader of Staunton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul G. Jr.

and Beverley of Warrenton and Peter D. and Linda Harrington of Bay Head, N.J.; a grandson, Jonathan K. Harrington; two brothers, Frederick G. of Bay Head, N.J., and Robert J. Chesterman of Hudson Falls, N.Y., and special friends Mr.

Margie L. Berry DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Margie Louise Baylor Berry, 92, widow of Alfred F. Berry died Friday evening (June 16, 2000) at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. She was born Feb.

20, 1908, a daughter of the late Willis N. and Edith (Showalter) Baylor of Middlebrook, Va. She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Helen Berry of Daytona Beach; and Alfred F. Jr. and Amelia Berry of Fishersville, four grandchildren: Fred L.

Arbogast STAUNTON Johanna Walter Arbogast, 89, of 618 died early Saturday morning (June 17, 2000). She was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Germany a daughter of Wilhelm and Elise (Hoschele) Walter. She worked at the former Genesco Co. of Verona 24 years and attended Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Elza D. Arbogast; two nieces, Elfriede Reindl of Munich and Johanna Schuster of Gunzburg, Germany; a nephew, Willi Walter of Bern, Switzerland; four greatnieces; a great-nephew; a special friend and neighbor, Thelma Sheets and special friends Dorothy Quick of Staunton and Nora Stoutmyer of Bridgewater. Midkiff STAUNTON George Wythe Midkiff, 73, died Saturday (June 17, 2000) at Augusta Medical Center. He was born May 18, 1927, in Endicott a son of Murry L. and Pearlie Underwood Midkiff. He was a Korean War veteran with the Army and repaired small motors. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Donna Marie Midkiff.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Franklin of Rocky Mount and Georgia Dianne Sebastian of St. Pauls, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and special friends Flora Belle Humphries and Mel and Carolyn Morris. A service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Monday at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. John Hammock.

Barkley 74, of 222 Astor Court, died Saturday (June 17, 2000) at his residence after months of declining health. He was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Augusta County a son of Frank J. and Nannie Hanger Barkley. On Oct.

18, 1947, he marred Eleanor Willis Barkley. He had been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1955. During World War II, he served in the Navy as a pharmacist mate, 2nd Class, special augmented Hospital No. 8 on Okinawa. He was a 1950 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy and was the owner and operator of Park Place Pharmacy prior to his retirement from Daleville Regional Medical Center.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 325 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 647 and a past member of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann B. Hemp. In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three daughters and one son-inlaw, Brenda Gaye Barkley, Beverly B. Abbott and Nanette B.

and Harry T. Brown of Danville; one son and daughter-in-law, Graham J. Jr. and Donna H. Barkley of Durham, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Zachary S.
